The Industry Skills Council Workplace English Language and Literacy Network
Service Skills Australia will facilitate the work of the ISC WELL Network for the financial year 2010 – 2011.
Representatives from each of the eleven Industry Skills Councils make up the network and meet quarterly to discuss issues relating to the essential skills of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) in each of the respective industries.
Service Skills Australia sees its network facilitation role to include exploring the LLN recommendations of the Skills Australia ‘Australian Workforce Futures’ report, and promoting cross-industry sharing and collaboration on issues relating to language, literacy and numeracy in workplace training and development.
We’d like to hear from YOU!
If you are looking to further engage in Language, Literacy and Numeracy in workplace training and assessment, or you’re an employer who would like further information on Government incentives for LLN training for existing workers, please contact Anne-Marie Yates for more information.
If you have a model for WELL learning (particularly regarding engagement with Indigenous learners), we’d like to hear your stories.

Completion rates for the service industries
This year we launched a project to explore the issues around the collection of data relating to completions and non-completions. SSA is working with JMA Analytics to undertake a project that will interrogate current AVETMISS data collections and undertake a trial with three RTO’s (public, private and enterprise) in the retail industry. In undertaking this work we are seeking to gain a clear understanding of the reality of completion rates for our industries and also, contribute to the emerging thinking in this area. Over the course of the project, JMA Analytics will provide a number of reports on different aspects of the subject, the latest of which can be downloaded from our website.
