The SIS10 Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package was released on NTIS on 6 June 2011. The version available is SIS10 V1.2 in a pdf format only.

It should be noted that there are still a few anomalies in V1.2 and in the spirit of continuous improvement we are currently working on a V1.3 to be released within the next few months.

Information on the SIS10 nominal hours will be released when available by your relevant State representative/authority.

The majority of the SIS10 transition workshops have now been completed nationally, however we will be holding an additional transition workshop in Sydney later in the year for those RTOs who are interested. The date and precise location are to be advised.

Community Pharmacy Continuous Improvement

Service Skills Australia has compiled an issues register containing feedback provided by stakeholders on draft 1. Over 600 comments have been made on both units and qualifications. The majority of feedback on the draft 1 units has been technical and editorial in nature. Improvements to the draft 2 units include updating the units to reflect quality assurance feedback, technical feedback, clarification of terminology, and overall strengthening of units. Draft 2 units will be available shortly for validation.

The draft 1 qualifications received a range of feedback. The project team are currently working through this feedback, along with information collected during in store visits to over 60 pharmacies to compile draft 2.

If you would like to discuss the project please contact Karen Banks at kbanks@serviceskills.com.au

SIB10 - Clarification

Service Skills Australia has recently received queries seeking clarification on the intent of the SIB70110 Vocational Graduate Certificate in Intense Pulsed Light and Laser Hair Reduction. Language within the units has caused confusion on the modality required to be used. Service Skills Australia wishes to clarify that students need to develop skills and knowledge to be competent in both intense pulsed light and laser modalities to achieve this qualification. For more information please see the Service Skills Australia website or contact Karen Banks at kbanks@serviceskills.com.au
